Gamers don’t like Macs because there are no games for them.

There are plenty of games for Mac. I should know, as I have one. For one, Blizzard has always released their games as hybrid Windows/Mac versions. Additionally, Macs can now run Windows.
And Macs ARE real PCs, Solstice Zero. I think you are the one who needs to get with the program. Training wheels? Seriously?

@ Solstice Zero: There’s nothing wrong with having a mac. That’s not the point of this particular comic. If that was the case, this entire thing would be about not buying a PS3 or 360. There are plenty of great programs for mac, and a couple good windows games that have been ported. However, windows has plenty of great software too and all the games. I use both, and see shunning one or the other as ignorant and short-sited. Do you own more than one console?

Lets face it, as far as gamers are concerned, you either use a PC or wait for what few companies that do PORT games to macs to throw you some scraps.

And that Mac needs to keep his dirty hands off wiimote, we don’t need some sort of devil spawned I-Wii or Wii-pod.

I think the point is that, A mac taken as a mac, that is, running Mac OSX, is incapible of playing many games. sure, blizzard supports osx, but blizzard isnt the entire PC gaming catalogue. Now, when you run windows on a mac, it ceases to BE a mac, because it is not using the OS that it was initially designed to run. In the same way, when you put linux on a PS3, it ceases to BE a PS3, and just becomes another linux computer, albeit a slightly more powerful, smaller linux PC, but a PC none the less.
when you put windows on a mac, it is a windows PC, and no longer a mac.
thats not saying osx is a bad os, but its just not suited for gaming.

When you put windows on a mac, you use both at the same time. :/ It’s impossible to remove OSX and replace it with windows. OSX is actually running windows, so it continues to be OSX, or both. Mind you, the whole argument that mac can run windows is horrible, as it still can’t run much with that. However, there is a new program that companies can use to port over games just by arranging the files right in the application. It’s called cedar or something.

I’m fairly certain that OSX doesn’t run windows. It’s installed as a different OS that Boot Camp can boot into. (On a side note, Intel macs actually run worse than PowerPC ones, since the programs were optimized for PowerPC CPUs) It is possible to remove OSX and replace it with windows, too. Format the hard drive, remove the partitions, and plop windows down. That is, unless Apple is controlling enough to not let you choose an OS.

Basically:
-No OS is without its problems.
-OSX is not something you use if you are interested in gaming, Windows has huge market share, makes sense to release games for windows blah blah blah.

Ha! Good comic! This series really captures the essence of video and computer gaming in a new and interesting way.

My main issue with macs is you can’t build them yourself. Something feels lost when it isn’t made by your own hands….(If you can now, forgive my ignorance.) Plus they are reeeaaaalllly expensive compared to PC. But OS X has brought them a long way from OS 9. Just my two cents.

Bottom line, Macs are indeed great computers. The top of the line when it comes to graphic design and video editing.

There are ways to run windows apps on a Mac but you lose way too much resources.

Macs are useless when it comes to Gaming and programming. Not enough games and near impossible to customize its hardware.

its good to see a comments section of a website that isnt just a flame war. we are talking about these issues in an open, civil way.
thats awesome!!
all 3 major os’s are awesome (windows, mac and linux), and i use all 3 quite often, and i like all of them.
its refreshing to not see a crazy fanboy melee once, for a change!

I think the best part of this is that, much like the true Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mac must truly have a beautiful and enlightened soul. He is merely lonely and longs for software.

I trust that Linux shall never be seen in the comic, but I wonder when the neglected, ignored bastard child of Virtual Boy will show up to ruin everything. Surely he was imprisoned in the tower or some such.
