Very funny comic, but you should not have used the Hindu Deity Shiva. I find it very offensive that you depict a holy deity as a motorcycle being ridden by a videogame console.

The Shiva depicted in the Final Fantasy games has no relation in depiction or background to the Hindu deity.

Whats done is done, but some research into what you post on your site would be appreciated.

guys who protest about depictions of race, religion and politics should not come and visit this site…why not go tell something to the guys at PA for their depiction of Jesus too, this is just humor.

what does make me cry inside though is the fact that the xbox is getting the games that once were precious to the playstation brand…it just doesn’t feel right… like when i saw a sonic game on a nintendo system…it’s just not right

@ Rohan Malhotra & A Wizard, A True Star,

Come on you two, don’t you think you’re being a little ridiculous. Now I can appreciate religious protection and all, but no christ-affiliated religion ever complains when someone does a jesus joke. You honestly believe that Shiva from FF wasn’t in the least bit conceived from the Hindu Shiva? The new Pixar character Wall-E design was practically stolen because the creator thought of a cool look, but that cool look came from a movie he had seen 8 years before. I really do think that Shiva must have been drawn from the Hindu deity Shiva. Funny comic nonetheless.

Queen Mother and A Wizard, aside from lampooning Rohan’s post, also bring about the point in the first place, which apparently was missed. Shiva is old-world iconography in the same way that the crown or feudalism is old-world iconography.

The personification of seemingly unrelated modern contrivances into historical symbols is the humor of the comic. This was a deliberate move by the illustrator, and it was clever.

I guess being clever with a prime deity is still an offensive thing to say. That said, you can’t possibly expect to read a satire without getting your toes stepped on — even on a seemingly harmless topic like video games.

Very funny comic, but you should not have used stone in the castle design.

Even worse, you claim the motorcycle riding, video game representing, Hindu Deity could destroy such fine masonry work, this is a fallacy.

The Hindu religion depicting a series here does not and should not have any relation to the fine art of stone masonry.

Whats done is done, but some research into what you post on your site would be appreciated.

But damned if Shiva don’t look hot as a motorcycle, rock on baby.

The pens and paper depicted in the Final Fantasy games has no relation to brown pens and paper used here.

RPGs, and especially the Final Fantasy series, contains numerous references to both mythological and religious creatures and artifacts. The use of Shiva here is a parody of this. The comic was clearly not intended to offend, but Rohan chose to be “very offended” anyway. It seems to me that he is a hypocrite who only react if it is not too inconvenient, and even then it didn’t sound like he intended to stop reading this “anti-hindu” comic that was oh so offensive to him.

“the Hindu tradition inspired several summons, including Shiva, Garuda, and Lakshmi (the correct translation of the summon known as “Starlet”). Ramuh is another Hindu inspired summon, drawn from Indra and Rama. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gameplay_of_Final_Fantasy

Rohan, I doubt you will read this, but if you really believe that your deity was transformed into a motorcycle in this comic, then it follows that Shiva was also transformed into an ice-goddess in FF. If innocent modifications of Hindu deities bothers you so much, then I don’t think you can play these games with a clear conscience. Perhaps you should seek guidance from an elder if you are so easily offended by innocence, because it doesn’t sound healthy. How can you condemn something that does not stem from malice? Is your faith so weak and vulnerable that you feel threatened by a singe innocent image? Are you arrogant with a “holier than thou” attitude, and think you own Shiva? Are you trolling? I just don’t get it…

Having said that, I believe that the human body is sacred. The humans in this comic are clearly abominations to all that is holy, indeed even scientists would be appalled at these unethical depictions of a human/videogame hybrid. Are you saying the human race descended from videogames, or is this your twisted vision of the future? Humans does NOT have videogame consoles for heads!

Thanks for the comic, you rock!
