oh yes, I see, the Y on the warhead is the standout looking Y in the Crysis title. it was the game that made many people go off at how brilliantly a PC can process graphics

Crysis Warhead.

Not even the current 3 console gpus combined could run this game on full settings.

@ King Phantom:

Well to be fair, even the most powerful PC can’t play this game on full settings.

Crysis. A game so powerful they cut the highest graphics setting since no one could run it.

Ultra High that is. Youtube videos don’t do it justice.

Crysis: Warhead is the game crysis wanted to be.

So far it’s getting great reviews.

I don’t know if this is a stupid question but id like an answer…

If what Ina said is true and the most power full comps can’t run this game at its full settings what did they use to make it?

Loved the comic keep up the good work!

Lolz@PC. Very good, all very impressive. I also once made THE GREATEST FILM THAT HAS EVER BEEN MADE. But sadly, it was too awesome to be seen by ANYONE. But it sure would silence the critics. You know, if they could actually see it. ¬_¬

Crysis was probably the wrong item to show, even though the “warhead” connection was nice. It’s an important point, though that consoles are a fixed processing capability platform, whereas PCs are in a state of continuous upgrade. The 5 year cycle for consoles means they start out far advanced of affordable PCs (with the difference made up in licensing costs to 3rd parties) but that’s IT for the next 5 years, as the PC market continues to release new hardware. It’s a lot more complex than just referencing one game, so I can see why this was chosen as a simpler illustration.

Love the comic, but evil kings just aren’t the same without the blue Wii light,

Wali: Remember that, once upon a time, Unreal Tournament 2 was hailed as the pinnacle in graphical capabilities for a PC. PC’s have the advantage of constantly evolving hardware. As months pass, The 360 and PS3 will fall steadily behind, and with every new processor, every new graphics card, the PC advances.

Yes there are PC’s that can run Crysis max. They have $1000-1500 worth of video cards in them, but they run it. The price we pay for bleedin’ edge.

It’s too bad Warhead has worse graphics than the original.

@MK

That’s a clumsy analogy.

The issue with Crysis was that the hardware couldn’t support the game whereas all movie players can fully support their chosen medium.

Sorry, I don’t think you quite understood. It wasn’t a direct hardware to hardware comparison, more a comment on the madness of making a magnum opus that can be seen by virtually no one. :-)

MK: Eventually… eventually… everyone will own a PC that can run Crysis. I mean, consider Half Life 2, when it came out, it had system requirements that forced many to go forth and upgrade. Same for Doom III, and many other titles.

Remember: PC’s march slowly forward, with developers always on the path to push the edge. Consoles advance by leaps, but always just behind the PC’s maximum capabilities.
