It seems to deal with 1up’s selling to the UGO group and the consequence that is the death of EGM. But I don’t understand how wii and xbox are involved (some bias maybe ?)

Don’t get the Wii and EGM connection.

Last time I checked EGm wasn’t owned by Nintendo and UGO wasn’t owned by Microsoft.

It also sounds like Lord Wii’s Fireships destroyed both the the xboxian ships and his own library.

Yeah I’m really lost on this one.

I get that it’s a reference to the burning of the Library of Alexandria but I don’t get the game angle.

I thought this was about Banjo Kazooie being on XBLA (and thus, RARE/Microsoft was “plundering” the WiiWare library)

Hey, not ALL webcomics need to introduce a new character every time a new concept is introduced.

I thought it was pretty simple.
The Wii demolished the 360 in sales, but the majority of Wii games are crap.
I don’t see how this is connected to EGM closing.

I had no Idea what the big news was, but the comic was brilliant none the less. The writer should see if he can get this comic published.

ditto that. But then I’d want a guide to it. Like an explanation on the references from Rhodes.

I have no (read: very little) shame in admitting that this comic flew way over my head. I’ve never even heard of EGM.

EGM is Electronic Gaming Monthly, the most recent print publication to bite the dust. Yeah, the abbreviation to EGM threw me off at first too when I heard the news.

I’d guess that it has something to do with EGM’s bias towards the Wii? (I’m trying to figure out why King Wii would own the library with all the EGMs).

Maybe because the Wii’s popularity comes from the casual market - not the (hard)core gaming population ie; the people who buy gaming mags like EGM etc

King Wii is clearly holding a torn piece of an EGM in the 2nd to last panel

(pro-tip it’s upside down)

I can explain it.
Author drew the comic and at the last moment added the EGM letters once he heard the news about it being shut down.
